Technology Manager - Technology Community Manager Full-time

Background Information

VillageReach improves access to healthcare for the most underserved communities around the world by creating innovations in health care delivery, technology solutions, and social ventures. The Information Systems Group (ISG) is a key part of our mission to strengthen health-care systems in low income settings.
ISG is responsible for designing and deploying management information systems to improve supply-chain operations and enable robust data collection and reporting in the most challenging of environments. ISG’s current initiatives include (1) OpenLMIS, an open-source enterprise application and related open-source community to improve supply chain operations in low income countries, (2) ODK Scan, a mobile-phone based scanning application to digitize data on clinic forms, and (3) vrMIS, a web-based application to collect and report data from Mozambique’s dedicated vaccine logistics system.

Responsibilities

The Technology Manager will have the following primary responsibilities:

* Provide project support for all ISG projects including OpenLMIS, ODK Scan, and vrMIS. * Perform OpenLMIS program and product management functions including working with partners to contribute to the product roadmap, manage contracts with partners and vendors, and support on-time completion of program deliverables. * Develop and implement a program to advance the OpenLMIS community, including researching other open source communities to determine best practices for community governance, infrastructure, and coordinating ongoing development. Actively promote the community via PR outreach, membership coordination, as well as ongoing communications with project partners and donors. * Collaborate with other successful open-source communities and organizations that are engaged in global health and logistics management. * Facilitate the collaborative development of user requirements for health information systems, including business process mapping, developing use cases, translating program needs into functional requirements. Document and track bugs/issues and software releases, and provide support for implementing changes. * Support new business and proposal development efforts including cultivating external relationships, tracking RFPs, coordinating grants, developing new business opportunities and working with potential partners on proposal development. * Contribute to the ongoing refinement and dissemination of VillageReach’s technology initiatives for global health, including cultivating a thorough understanding of the key stakeholders in the field and staying up-to-date regarding important developments in the domain.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

* Academic background in information systems, health informatics, or a related field; graduate degree a plus. * Successful track record of cultivating partnerships – particularly with NGO’s, nonprofits, and government agencies, building professional communities, and reaching out to a broader audience. * Seven to ten years of experience in technical product or program management. Proven track record of ability to independently coordinate complex projects with multiple stakeholders. * Candidates with a background in the private sector or information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D) a plus. * Experience in facilitating use case development and generating requirements for information systems. * Strong communication and cross-cultural interpersonal skills for working with US-based and international staff. Comfortable in public-speaking roles. * Proven communications and writing skills – this position involves significant time devoted to developing proposals, writing reports that will be accessible to a culturally diverse readership, and cultivating partnerships. * Experience working internationally in low-income countries with a variety of stakeholders, including local government ministries, funding agencies, and other NGOs. * Ability to work comfortably with the mix of disciplines within VillageReach.

The Technology Manager position is located in Seattle, and will report to the ISG Technology Director.
