Job Purpose

This role is responsible for the deployment and maintenance of Kali Linux systems and web properties. The System Administrator will be directly responsible for leading and participating in the implementation and support of network infrastructure equipment, servers and tools. As a critical component to the Kali Linux infrastructure, key activities will include core systems administration, application system integration, system security, system updates, daily logging & monitoring, and input into the systems architecture and design. The main goal of this position is to help build and expand the redundancy and high availability of our systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
-The System Administrator will maintain and administer the systems that an operating system infrastructure
-Maintain the infrastructure standards including network, storage and virtualization
-Monitor performance, utilization and security of all services ensuring efficient operation and data protection
-Conduct log aggregation, management, and active monitoring
-Manage and rotate system credentials
-Design and participates in disaster recovery process
-Participate in the evaluation of new products and recommend updates and upgrades
-Stay current on available network products, services and technology and make recommendations to ensure network is efficient and reliable
-Write and maintain technical documentation related to: Kali, internal infrastructure, processes and monitoring
-Write automated test and integrate into our continuous integration systems
-Able to automate tasks (such as using shell scripts and Python where necessary)
-Maintain and improve our production, testing and staging infrastructure
-Help maintain regular releases of Kali on alternate platforms
-Resolve user issues and bug reports
-Answers community concerns about Kali
-Raises public awareness about Kali
-Work in a fast-paced environment and challenging workload
-Performs individually and as a member of a team
-Diagnose and resolve unique and complex system problems
-Follow change management best-practices
-Other duties as needed

Core Qualifications
-Five or more years of progressive expertise in operating and administering Linux/Unix operating systems
-Strong network knowledge, ability to troubleshoot network issues
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to execute flawlessly in stressful situations
-Experience in backup operations in a production environment
-Familiarity with Debian & Kali Linux
-Well-versed in the use of a wide range of open source tools
-Track record leveraging scripting (Shell scripts/Python) to build required automation and tools on an ad-hoc basis
-Experience with cloud and virtualization based technologies
-Ability to learn on the job and explore new technologies
-Self-motivated, proactive, independent and responsive; requires little supervisory attention
-Must be a team Player

Desirable Qualifications
-Three or more years of use with Ansible and SaltStack
-One or more years of Debian packaging standards
-Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)

Working Conditions
Full time - 40 hour work week.
Timing of the hours for this position are flexible, and will be performed remotely from a home office.
This requires accessibility to Offensive Security system and interfaces, and adherence to all security protocols and policies.
