The National Library of Finland is looking for a new member to its Koha team. We will prioritize people who know Finnish but might consider others, too, so please read on!

We are a legal deposit library, and a major research library. In addition, we provide IT solutions to Finnish libraries, museums, and archives. We feel that we do work with a meaning.

Our library system is Koha, a free and open source software. We also support other Finnish scientific libraries in using Koha.

Your job will include development of Koha in collaboration with our customers, and other specialists in the Library. Also, you will work with automatisation and streamlining of maintenance processes in cooperation with the platform provider.

The job will fit you well, if

  • you have experience on developing free and open software
  • you know Perl (or can acquire it quickly)
  • you have worked with Ansible and Git
  • you work effortlessly in GNU/Linux environment
  • you have skills needed to work together with customers
  • you speak Finnish at least moderately
  • you are comfortable with working in English.

We expect that

  • you have a relevant HE degree, or you have improved your skills in working life for a longer time
  • you are willing to learn about IT in libraries at large – systems, metadata formats, interoperability, etc.

Monthly salary is from circa 4,000 to 4,400 €, depending on your skills and experience.

Planned starting day is 1st March, 2021.

We are located in Helsinki city centre, and we have flexible telecommuting policy. The National Library is an institution within the University of Helsinki.
