Our company is made up of a small and close-knit group of librarians, book lovers, technology and data geeks, Tolkien fans, space nerds, knitters, marathon runners, animal lovers, and most importantly, library lovers and open-source fanatics.
We’re looking for an individual who shares our passion for top notch service, web apps, perl, Linux, and libraries to join our Development Team.
Responsibilities:
Participate in help desk system support efforts, making sure partner and staff issues are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
Communicate directly with partners via ticketing system to identify bugs or necessary enhancements
Plan and implement new features to improve Koha
Assist educators and other staff in understanding code and features in the Koha system
Work with the global Koha community to test, QA, push code for release, and shape the future of Koha
Assist in deployment of web applications in a cloud computing environment.
Troubleshoot network and software errors (with DevOps) by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
About you!
You love libraries and are familiar with how libraries work.
You communicate clearly. You are comfortable communicating on the phone, in person, on video, and in email.
You enjoy working collaboratively.
You are self directed and are able to effectively work from home (experience working from home is a plus).
Qualities/skills we're looking for:
BSc/BA preferably in computer science, engineering or relevant field; or equivalent experience
Experience coding, supporting, or deploying web applications
Knowledge of perl or similar scripting languages
Knowledge of Javascript and frontend frameworks
Skill that are great to have:
Knowledge of library workflows (circulation, holds, ILL, acquisitions, etc)
Experience working with legacy code
Experience with Object Oriented Programming
Experience working with an open-source community and follow coding guidelines
Experience working with containerization
Salary Range: $60,000-75,000 based on experience.
