Educational Technology Software Developer Full-time

Ready to create rich HTML5 applications for students and teachers?

The Concord Consortium, an education non-profit located in Concord, MA, is seeking talented software developers to create innovative science and math activities. As a software developer you will build the components of these activities and improve the systems for authoring, launching, and reporting on the activities.

In addition you will:

Practice TDD or BDD
Write open source code
Work on week long iterations with a project leader and other developers
Learn a project’s science or math subject matter well enough to work effectively with the project leader
Rotate between several projects, switching roughly once a month
Suggest new technology ideas to project leaders
Contribute to open source projects and create and maintain your own open source projects

To accomplish this you need:

Experience with a web scripting language such as Javascript, Ruby, or Python
The courage and confidence to work in an agile environment
Experience with automated testing
An undergraduate degree in CS, mathematics, natural sciences or equivalent experience
Experience with the Linux server command line
To have completed a software project with a team of developers
The ability to work independently when necessary
Good verbal and written communication skills

You will be even more successful if you have experience with or interest in:

JavaScript and Ruby on Rails or a similar framework
Automated testing
Git
Linux
Science, math, or related fields
Mac OS X and Windows
User interface development
Passion for deeply beautiful design
Cloud-based deployment
Working on an Agile team
jQuery, SproutCore, and Java
