Access (accessnow.org) is a young and growing organization dedicated to defending and extending the digital rights of users at risk around the world. Our policy, technical, and engagement teams work in coordination to achieve this mission through with presences in Europe, Latin America, North Africa, and the United States.

The position of Engagement Program Manager will play a critical role in Access’ mission to engage users in the fight to defend digital rights worldwide, seek their feedback on critical issues, and solicit their support in Access’ campaigns and initiatives. This position is creative, analytical, and strategic, and is an opportunity for someone interested in growing and implementing their skills and experiences through a commitment to digital rights.

We’re looking for a strategic thinker with innovative campaign, online fundraising, and community development experience, with a aptitude for data analysis and evidence-based decision making. This position will help develop and execute our global outreach and engagement strategy, run our campaigns, manage our web properties, and provide strategic support and consultation for our regional initiatives and partner organizations. They will be the lead on community engagement and growth on social media, email lists, and other outreach channels. They will develop our online fundraising strategy for community engagement and income generation, and execute and manage fundraising campaigns.

They will participate in developing advocacy content, including video, blog, social media, graphic and image materials, based on the priorities and needs of our technology and policy teams.

The Program Manager will report to the Director of Strategy and Engagement, and will have 1-2 interns as direct reports.

The work will include the following responsibilities:

* Developing novel and innovative effective campaign and advocacy approaches to advance policy and technical objectives * Advising and managing the execution of campaigns that engage our roughly 400,000 strong global community and other audiences of varying degrees of engagement, backgrounds, and languages. * Developing and implementing a digital fundraising strategy that builds an engaged community, optimizing current online income streams and identifying new ways to raise money online; * Collaborating with a diverse set of organizations and individuals to advance community and sectoral objectives. * Analyzing and testing campaign metrics and key performance indicators to ensure best practices and lessons learned and presenting these metrics and outcomes to senior management * Managing existing digital assets: BSD website, social media accounts, email list, and special projects * Creating a more metric-driven culture, setting, measuring, and communicating goals * Collaborating deeply within and across arms to manage innovation, advise and guide digital ideas and plans, and support various internal functions with digital solutions

Position Requirements:

The most compelling candidate will have a deep knowledge of innovations in digital campaigning, community cultivation, and fundraising. Global experience and outlook are highly desired, human rights or humanitarian experience a plus. Experience and skills required:

* Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience (communication, campaigning, advocacy, public relations, fundraising, journalism) in outreach positions (campaigner, strategist, community manager), preferably in the non-profit sector; or meaningful experience working in a high-level position for a major digital organizing program; * Organizing and campaigning experience and an understanding of digital trends and communications strategies; the ability to apply these towards complex and concurrent advocacy and policy goals; * Experience developing compelling digital fundraising content that converts readers to action-takers and generates community-driven income; * Experience creating digital campaign content strategies using innovative and inexpensive approaches; * Strong understanding of digital organizing and fundraising tools, including email lists, CMS & CRM systems, social media, data analytics; * Experience with online community management and growing engaged communities; * Excellent expository and persuasive writing and editing skills; * Strong project management skills; experience managing projects and relationships involving technical staff and contractors * Ability to meet and prioritize multiple deadlines and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in fast-paced, high-pressure environment; * Knowledge of front-end programming languages (CSS, HTML), image editing software (CS6), and statistical analysis and reporting a plus; * Language skills, particularly Spanish a plus

LOCATION: This is a full time position based in one of Access’ offices in New York, Brussels, Tunis, Santiago, or Washington, D.C., contingent on work authorization.
