Full-time Debian Packager
Published at 20.06.2017 - Viewed: 2111 times - Purism (Worldwide)

Purism is looking for well versed Debian packager. Packaging will vary from packaging Free software to Debian that is not yet included in Debian (taiga, mediagoblin, tox, riot as examples) up to maintaining and patching existing packages to fit the need of PureOS (Purism’s own Debian based distribution) such as rebranded Thunderbird and Firefox with additional patches.

The goal of Purism’s Debian packager is to default to Debian standards and keep minimal deltas in packages against Debian (zero is perfect) unless some other rules dictate (for example PureOS is trying to become FSF endorsed which pulls a bit of patching on existing packages or some defaults are more suited for PureOS than Debian).

Work can be full-time, part-time or some other kind of agreement. This is remote position.

Required skills:

  • a few years of Debian packaging in Debian
  • understanding how Debian works

Being a Debian Developer is a big plus but not requirement. You just need to be able to show your skills.
