Internet Health Outreach Coordinator Full-time

The Mozilla Foundation is seeking an Internet Health Outreach Coordinator to amplify the reach of the Internet Health Report and related publications worldwide.

The nonprofit Mozilla Foundation is passionate about the Internet remaining a global public resource that is open and accessible to all. Our work is guided by the Mozilla Manifesto.

The direct work of the Mozilla Foundation focuses on fueling the movement for an open Internet. We do this by connecting open Internet leaders with each other and by mobilizing grassroots activists around the world.

The Insights team at the Mozilla Foundation is responsible for gathering information, sharing analysis, and sparking discussion about issues that impact the future of the open Internet — through publications like the Internet Health Report — in order to increase public awareness about Internet health.

As the Internet Health Outreach Coordinator, you’ll help increase the reach and impact of the Internet Health Report and related publications, by making sure we’re talking about our work in the right places, at the right times, in the right ways — and supporting members of the Mozilla network to do the same, in their local communities. You’ll need to be very organized, excited by high-energy projects, and passionate about Internet health.

As a key member of the team, you should be ready to dive in wherever needed, with key focus on keeping order and output of high professional standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You’ll lead the design and manage implementation of the annual Internet Health Report ‘roadshow’ — a promotional tour that launches alongside the report (Feb/March each year).
  • You’ll manage the design, creation, and maintenance of an Internet health outreach kit. The outreach kit will live in the open, and enable people in the Mozilla network to independently lead discussions about Internet health (eg. hosting workshops, presenting at events) in their local communities. You’ll collaborate with colleagues and contractors to develop written content, graphic design, localization, online/offline versions, and guidelines/training for use.
  • You’ll take the lead on designing and implementing the Internet Health Report’s presence at select events led both by partners (eg the Internet Health Clinic at re:Publica 2017) and by Mozilla (eg. Research Hub at Mozfest 2017)
  • You’ll organize and run events connected directly to Mozilla’s Internet health publications, with formats ranging from online Ask Me Anything chats, to panel discussions, to small contributor working sessions.
  • You’ll identify, build relationships with, and provide support for presenters and contributors involved in the outreach strategy, including connecting them to the broader Mozilla network.
  • You’ll support the identification of global events that Mozilla should prioritize being present at to talk about Internet health and help match/train presenters to attend (you’ll likely be one of those presenters!)
  • You’ll be the main contact for people/organizations developing local Internet Health Reports. You’ll help these be developed in a very decentralized way, with Mozilla’s advice and promotion support.
  • You’ll work with the Insights and Internet Health Report teams to identify success metrics, build an outreach strategy to achieve them, and track progress.
  • You’ll field expressions of interest in getting involved with/contributing to the Internet Health Report and related Mozilla initiatives that surface via the outreach strategy, and direct them to the appropriate person.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Strong experience with workshop design and facilitation, particularly in different cultural contexts and languages (comfort with public speaking a plus)
  • Superior project management and organizational abilities, excels at working across complex teams and managing multiple competing priorities
  • Experience working with volunteer communities and volunteer-driven projects
  • Passion for and experience with supporting the growth and development of individuals, as well as decentralized communities/networks
  • Exceptional reading and writing skills, in multiple languages an asset
  • Familiar with or have a strong interest in developing a deep understanding of Internet issues, such as online privacy and web literacy
  • Creative and comfortable thinking “out of the box” for fresh, fun and inspiring ideas
  • Basic or intermediate graphic design skills
  • Comfortable working within geographically distributed teams and timezones
  • This role may require some travel
  • Self motivated and able to work independently, while also being a team player

The Mozilla Foundation can hire in the jurisdictions of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany. The core Internet Health Report team are based in Berlin and Toronto.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
