For this role you will need experience coding in scripted languages (ideally we are looking for any of PHP, Python, Ruby, or Perl) and proficiency in debugging HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. As you’ll be on the front line liaising with clients and community members, you will need excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. In this team you will be mentored by other more senior developers to help you develop your technical skills, but having experience with and understanding the technologies we’ve described will be a great help to you.
It would be a definite advantage if you have experience in PHP, are familiar with the use of Git for distributed development and the use of the Linux command-line. It would also help if you have experience working with databases (PostgreSQL in particular) and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. An interest in or passion for open source would be the shining cherry on top of your application, so please be sure to mention this in your cover letter.
