The Sovereign Tech Fund is looking for a dedicated and motivated Program Manager (all genders). As part of the program team, you will play a central role in planning, implementing, and developing the activities of the Sovereign Tech Fund.

Who we are

The Sovereign Tech Fund’s mission is to strengthen digital infrastructure in the public interest. Our goal is to promote security, innovation, and competitiveness and to create a stable digital foundation for participation and democracy. To this end, we invest in the open source ecosystem with a focus on resilience and technological diversity and the aim of achieving digital sovereignty and sustainable digital services in the public interest.

As a “start-up” in the Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation, we started the Sovereign Tech Fund in September 2022. This year, we will become an independent entity, and as such, we are looking for talented individuals to join our team and help establish the new organization.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Program Manager to contribute to the establishment and further development of the Sovereign Tech Fund. The program team plays a central role in planning, implementing, and developing the activities of the Sovereign Tech Fund. The team is responsible for the fund’s investment decisions and for the successful implementation of the mission. Program team members evaluate and manage incoming applications, discuss and decide on investments, supervise projects, and support them in their successful implementation. Additionally, they develop new programs and projects to strengthen the open source ecosystem, maintain the organizationʼs relations with the community, and stay informed about developments in the field.

Program managers are primarily responsible for applications and selection processes, as well as managing funded projects. Further tasks include the development and implementation of additional programs and representing the organization in the community.

Your Tasks

  • Reviewing and evaluating applications
  • Active participation in discussions on investment decisions
  • Communication with potential projects and applicants
  • Development and management of contracts
  • Supervision and management of projects before and during commissioning
  • Representing the Sovereign Tech Fund at conferences and other events
  • Network with open source communities and other stakeholders

Your Qualities

  • Relevant experience in the areas of project management, grants management, or community management
  • Good or very good knowledge of open source and/or software development
  • Proactive, structured, and independent work style
  • Strong interest in and enjoyment of teamwork and collaboration
  • Good to very good communication skills
  • Business fluent in German and English, able to prepare written documents in German
